Unfortunately, as they get older they want to experience more... he will have soda when it offered and asks why we always have to buy organic and healthy stuff. A sign of times to come as he approaches his teenage years!

I let him have it, he feels sick afterwards and knows that it's not good for him. If I at least know that he's being offered good choices 90% of the time- I'm happy:)

Jennifer that is so good that your son refused a treat because it has trans fats! It is true though because my newphew eats only healthy foods because my sister (his mother) is really careful with additives etc... and we had a birthday party for my son and my newphew would not have soda, he asked for juice because he doesn't drink soda he doesnt want it.

Amazing isnt it, kids will really want what they are encourage to eat or drink at home!

Richard & Joey,

Thanks for your inspiration and dedication!

Children are little sponges... they pick-up so much from us. We can teach them good habits or bad.

One time when my oldest son was 4 years old, he refused a "treat" from a neighbour's mom because it has trans fats!

I agree with you guys. When I grew up, my mum didn't put butter on my sandwiches she only used it occassionally for toast. And today my wife and I do the same for our kids because that is what comes naturally for us. So reading your blog made me think for a minute!
